Boys Varsity Baseball · Hanover Baseball: Region Champs!

baseball champs baseball team with trophy celebrating players

Congratulations to Coach Kane and the Hanover Varsity Baseball Team for winning the Region 4B Championship! The Hawks defeated Midlothian, 3-2 in a come from behind victory. Hanover was trailing 2-0 in the fifth, until Colby Hutnan drove in Jordan Watkins on a base hit. Will Bowles drove in Chase Flora on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Blake Doggett drove in Sam Lipscombe for the winning run on a base hit. In the top of the seventh, with runners in scoring position, the Hawks pulled off the missing ball trick setting up the Midlothian runner on second. Will Bowles faked pitching to second and Cayden Richardson dove to sell it so the runner thought the ball was headed to the outfield. Will then threw to third basemen, Jack Mardigian to tag the runner out.  Will then forced a fly ball to right field with Colby making the game winning catch. Hanover will host Great Bridge on Tuesday night in the Virginia state quarterfinals. The Hanover softball team will travel to  Great Bridge for their state quarterfinal. Go Hawks!
