Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Hanover Basketball: Hawks Win First Round!

On Monday night, the Hanover girls and boys basketball teams each hosted a first round game of the Region 4B playoffs. In the opening game, the 7th seeded Hanover girls team defeated the 10th  seed, Caroline, 67 to 37. Hanover was led in scoring by Julia Mardigian (17 points). Emily Mott had a double-double for the Hawks with 13 points and 10 rebounds Hanover will travel to the 2nd seed, King George High School for the quarterfinal round.

In the second game of the night, the 6th seeded, Hanover boys team defeated the 11 seed, King George High School, 78 to 52. The Hawks were only up a basket at halftime but came out of the locker room a different team and quickly pulled away. DJ Sims was a key contributor in the victory, leading the Hawks with 25 points. Will Fahed added 11 points for the Hawks. Hanover will go to the 3rd seed, Dinwiddie High School for the next round of the playoffs. Go Hawks!
