On Monday night, the 12th seed, Hanover boys varsity basketball team defeated the 5th seed, Courtland High School, 96-91 in a triple overtime playoff victory. Senior, Jaylin Ross led the Hawks with 28 points, including a three-pointer to send the game into the first overtime. He also added a layup to send the game into the second overtime. DJ Sims added 24 points for Hanover. With the Hawks down ten points in the fourth period, Cole Wallace hit his first three of the night. He would make two more in the fourth to spark Hanover’s comeback. Cole would also hit a three to send the game into the final overtime and he would make the three to put the Hawks ahead for good. After Cole’s basket, Colin Hudson would seal the game with two free throws. Colin also added 14 points and a game deciding block in the final overtime. The entire team contributed to the comeback victory and their second straight playoff win.
Hanover defeated King George last Friday night to earn a spot in the regional tournament. Will Fahed scored 28 points in the Hawks win. Hanover will travel to Monacan on Wed, Feb. 21. Game time is 7:30. Go Hawks!
