Volleyball Teams Advance to Regional Semi-finals

The Hanover Hawks Boy’s and Girl’s teams got straight set wins in the Regional Quarterfinals to advance onto the Class 4 Regional Semifinals next week. In the Boy’s Volleyball Match, the Hawks traveled to Richmond to take on the Green Dragons of Maggie Walker. Hanover defeated the Green Dragons 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-19) with big performances by Senior Brendan English who contributed 37 assists with 2 blocks and Senior Turner Cole who tallied 16 kills and 5 digs. Senior Peyton Grubbs was a force at the net with 7 kills and 5 blocks for the Hawks. The Hanover Hawks Boys Volleyball team will travel to Ashland on November 6th to take on the number one seeded Patrick Henry Patriots at 6:30pm.

 

In the Girl’s Volleyball Match, the Hawks defeated the seventh seeded Monacan Chiefs with a score of 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-15) to advance onto the Class 4B Regional Semifinals. The Hawks got big performances by Senior Kylie Tuxford who accounted for 21 kills, 3 aces and 6 digs and Junior Quinn Kellogg who had 37 assists and 3 aces on the night. Other performances for the Hawks came from Junior Olivia Everhart who had 12 digs and Junior Megan Kratzer had a big night with 17 kills, 2 aces and 5 digs. On Nov. 6, the Hanover Hawks Girls team will host the number three seeded Courtland Cougars in the Class 4 Regional Semifinals. Game time is 6:00 PM.  If the Girl’s and/or Boy’s teams win in the Regional Semifinals, they will earn a spot in the Regional Championship and a berth to the Class 4 State Tournament.
